Federal standards are .5% by weight or 1 mg/cm2 but more stringent local regulations are common
Lead paint was commonly used until 1978
HUD, EPA, and OSHA all regulate lead and/or lead based paint
In multi-family housing lead based paint commonly found on friction surfaces and windows, wood trim, doors, railings, floors, playground equipment, and in soils near buildings
Most hazardous if surface containing lead is grinded, abraded, sanded or otherwise made into dust
What You Need to Do
Review EPA, HUD, OSHA, and applicable local regulations to ascertain requirements/exposure potential
Notify tenants, workers, employees as required
Provide training and disclosures as required
Ensure intact quality of any suspect lead based paint materials
